From our family to yours.

The art of brewing has been part of our family since our first ancestors came to America from Austria in the early 1900s. What had once been reserved for gatherings of family and friends is now something we’re excited to share with you!

We’re a small craft brewery specializing in natural artisan beers, concentrating more on quality craftsmanship and less on volume.

Come visit our taproom.

In 2019, after years of dreaming about starting a brewery, an opportunity arose for our family to make that dream a reality. We’ve enjoyed home brews at our family gatherings for many years. Elkton Brewing Company is about sharing our passion for great brews and great fellowship with our community and its visitors.

From the beginning, brothers August, Tristan, and Aaron Napotnik, along with our father Stephen, agreed that we wanted to put a heavy emphasis on quality over quantity. We’re not interested in distribution. We’re interested in fellowship and community; combining a beautiful, family-friendly atmosphere with quality beer to create an environment for people to relax and connect. Our goal is to give every guest a family experience that will leave them eager to return to our taproom.

Opening our doors three weeks before the pandemic began in 2020, there were plenty of unexpected challenges to navigate as a new business. Our community overwhelmed us with support, for which we will be forever grateful. Throughout the many phases of the pandemic, we were able to serve our brews curbside, made-to-order in our crowlers, eventually welcoming guests back into our outdoor and indoor spaces. The town of Elkton gave us the use of parking spots out front for our “beer garden”, which has become a staple of our brewery and something we hope to make more permanent and beautiful in the coming months.

Our building was built in 1890 to house Elkton Milling Company. In the 1980’s, our family used the building as a warehouse to store supplies for another business. The space has since gone through multiple renovations, bringing it to its current life as the home of Elkton Brewing Co. We intentionally preserved and exposed many of the original architectural features, including brick walls, second floor beams, and the rare and impressive hand hewn American Chestnut columns. We have comfortable lounge spaces, two bars, high and low tables, and outdoor seating. All of these spaces work together to make our guests feel right at home wherever they choose to settle in. Enjoy our taproom while our brewers, August and Aaron, are in the brew cellar under foot crafting your favorite beers. You’re likely to meet Tristan, who designed the logo and works on the marketing side of the brewery, behind the bar serving those brews.

As a small batch brewery, our taps turn over regularly, sometimes weekly. Our selection is diverse, because we believe there should always be something for everyone. We have everything from dark to light, smooth to bitter, fruited to traditional, and even some creative hybrids. Locals will notice that all of our beers have names and stories linked to local landmarks or legends. For non-locals, the beer names are conversation starters to connect with our local community. Additionally, we brew all of our beers with fresh spring water from Bear Lithia Springs just on the edge of town. We truck the water straight from the spring and into our boil kettles for brewing. Bear Lithia Springs water has a long and rich history of being used for its medicinal value and unparalleled quality and we think the impact it has on our brews is significant. At every step of the brewing process, we use the highest quality ingredients, and give local farmers our spent grains at the end of the process.

We look forward to meeting you in the taproom and sharing our space and beers with you and your loved ones.

Cheers,

The Elkton Brewing Family
